What previous interns say about working at The Art and Science of Joy
Katri Jokela
I’m Katri, a French student with minors in communication and marketing. This internship was my first experience in digital marketing – and boy, did I learn something!
In addition to creating a marketing plan with our team, my tasks included content creation, social media engagement, episode editing, scientific research, collecting feedback… I appreciated the fact that I was really treated as an intern: besides the whole learning process we went through as a team, we were trained on various topics that’ll help us in the future.
Our team was the cherry on the cake. Andrew is a heartful leader who knows how to make the best out of your skills, while enabling you to grow. With the interns, we shared a sense of solidarity so that we’d never feel alone or overwhelmed.
So if you’re a team player with a passion for marketing and joy, please don’t hesitate to apply!

When it comes to describing my valuable experience I gained during this 3 month period, I can tell you that there is no school that can offer you such practical insight and knowledge as compared to working for a startup and starting from scratch, while having the possibility of slowly building your own brand! First of all, Andrew is a wonderful boss and leader who knows what people are the right fit for his team, and ultimately, this is what it all was- an amazing and delightful power of teamwork.
Besides getting familiar with and improving in all tasks related to Digital Marketing (Social media, Content and Email marketing, Analytics or Research), Andrew provided us with his trust, and therefore, gave us freedom and flexibility that together as a reliable team working in a friendly and creative environment, we were in charge of everything. We became researchers, writers, designers, audio/video editors, social media (experts), analysts, and much more… As a student of International Business and Entrepreneurship, I also got a closer look and deeper understanding of the amount of workload one field- digital marketing- requires.
To conclude, we built a great foundation and I decided to continue as a part-timer because now I want to push these gained experiences to the new level and turn them into growing the company – making a profit.

My internship at The Art and Science of Joy has taught me so much in a short period of time. Me and the team got to work together with a large variety of tasks, including social media marketing, content creation, email marketing, copywriting, research, analytics, and much more. Working at a start-up is an interesting experience since you get to learn a lot by doing and trying out new things – seeing what works and what doesn’t, and implement changes according to your findings. Us interns were given a lot of support, trust and freedom, as well as room to let our creativity shine. The importance of teamwork became very evident during the internship – everyone helps and supports each other, and all your concerns are always heard. I believe we have been able to create a great foundation for The Art and Science of Joy to build upon – and we couldn’t have done it without efficient teamwork.
