our emotional health. However, it’s crucial to take time to nourish our mental
and emotional selves to lead a balanced and fulfilling life. In the recent

Rosecky, Heidi Smith and Rob Volpe discussed how joy is intertwined with
emotional well-being. Our experts shared their favorite tips on how to live a
more joy-filled life by developing your emotional wellbeing. Let’s dive into
the knowledge shared during the livestream!

2.   Surround Yourself with Optimism: Being around positive individuals can significantly boost your own optimism and morale.

3.     Focus on Beauty and Color: Acknowledge and compliment the beauty in your surroundings, whether it’s a person’s attire or a flower by the sidewalk.

Paula Rocecky’s top tips:

1.  Acknowledgment: Recognize your current emotional state and the circumstances surrounding you, even if they are not always positive.

2.       Know Your Limits: Overcommitting can lead to stress. Understanding and setting your boundaries is crucial for maintaining a balanced emotional state.

3.       Amplify Positive Moments: Relish the positive, pleasurable experiences and make an effort to extend these joyous moments.

Heidi Smith’s top tips:

1.       Acceptance: Embrace your emotions as they come, understanding they are natural responses to your environment.

2.  Expression: Express your emotions safely, whether through writing, conversation, or physical activity.

3.       Seek Wisdom: After acknowledging and expressing your emotions, reflect on the wisdom they brought to your life.

Rob Volpe’s top tips:

1.       Self-Empathy: Understanding your own emotions and reactions is the first step toward emotional wellbeing.

2.       Take a Curious Breath: Create a pause between stimulus and response to better understand your emotions and decide how you wish to react.

3.       Advocate for Yourself: Know your needs and prioritize them, making sure to set aside time for self-care amidst your hectic schedule.

The panel of experts shared diverse perspectives on the
relationship between emotional well-being and joy. They discussed how
self-care, self-empathy, and right relationship with emotions are crucial for
emotional well-being, which in turn, cultivates joy. The conversation also
touched on the challenges posed by negative external stimuli like distressing
news, and how individuals can manage their reactions to maintain a sense of
joy. Some practical tips to help overcome this negativity include limiting
exposure to negative news, spreading kindness, and appreciating small joys like
a beautiful garden or a well-made cup of coffee.

The panelists emphasized the importance of being
present, connecting with others genuinely, and offering compliments or kindness
as ways to foster joy in oneself and others. They also shared personal
anecdotes to illustrate how simple acts of kindness and being present can
significantly impact one’s emotional well-being and joy. Through an engaging
discussion and personal stories, Heidi, Paula, Rob and Victor provided
insightful viewpoints on cultivating joy amidst the challenges of modern life.

Victor Perton

“Optimism is not a state of the world, it's a state of mind... It's about stopping and smelling the roses, observing the birds, sharing stories of happiness, and uplifting others with small gestures of kindness.”

Paula Rosecky

“Balance out consuming and creating... Joy is a feeling that we can generate based on the way we approach life and our thoughts, aiming to create more of it on purpose.”

Heidi Smith

“When we are in right relationship with our emotions... it gives us the freedom to experience our emotions, set them free, and open up to connection with others.”

Rob Vople

“Self-awareness and self-empathy are critical to navigate emotional well-being... It's about understanding where you are today, what you can do, and having that empathy with yourself to migrate your emotions and maybe get to a place of joy.”
